Nightbus."This bus stop is temporarily out of use", stated the sign where the Routemaster paused at 10.14am. Two Australians boarded, having been confused by the only route planner (for the night bus). Before the two bells, the conductor herded off an unshaven man, 'Go on, off you get!' The departed paused to study the sign on the bus stop, before ambling across the road to seek a ride in the opposite direction. Posted by Nina | July 14, 2003. Stoke Newington.

Short trips.
I jumped on a bus at lunchtime - any bus would have done, I just wanted to get along Oxford Street to Selfridges - it was the number 73. You don't care about the bus number if you're going a short distance. Especially in the city centre. There, so many buses run along the same roads.  They're almost identity-less. But, for long distances you must know exactly what number you need to get. Posted by Jane| September 8, 2003. Oxford Street to Selfridges.
