Last ride. I was lucky to ride the 73s on the last day of Routemaster operation, and for my sins (and my foto album) took loads of pictures of the old buses. A lot of curious passers by asked me what was going on and when I told one chap, he summed up what I was thinking 'the end of an era'.
There was a friendly atmosphere connected to the route that day and it reminded me a little bit of when England win a football match, everyone is friendly and happy to chat.
I hope the crews enjoyed their big day too and hope they got some recognition for the hard work they do. I can't help wondering if anyone will bat an eyelid when the articulated buses are replaced though...
