Mobile games. I worked in London four years ago on Denmark Street, used to take the 73 most evenings to Victoria Station. Some nights I used to play "ride the buses" and take whichever bus came along first, to take me to some corner of London I wasn't familiar with, since I bought a Daily Pass everyday. The Singing Nutter. Within seconds it was obvious that they did not know each other. She was sat as close as possible to the window and he was leaning in towards her. He was trying to engage her in conversation. His voice was loud. Hers was soft. Passengers around me were silent, interested, listening. I could feel people beside and behind me watching the conversation between the woman in the black jacket and the bearded man. They were seated in front of me. He tried to make her sing a song with him. She refused and he shuffled in his seatas if to turn around. Suddenly the single seat in front of me and between us, did not feel like a substantial enough buffer zone. Posted by Kat | July 3, 2003 |Kings Cross to Tottenham. |
